I live in a large apartment in the city center of Copenhagen. I seriously got so lucky on my location. I'm living on Skindergade 14 on the 3rd floor. The building starts on floor zero so its really like living on the fourth floor which is like 8 flights of stairs. Not fun, but walking up and down these stairs will hopefully pay off by the end of semester!
My housemates are great, I live with 3 boys and 8 girls and we all share a kitchen, bathrooms and living room. It's so great, we've all become so close, it feels like I've known some of these people for years. My roommate is awesome! Out of 1100 people on the program we were randomly placed together, I mean no survey or questionnaire or anything. I got so unbelievably lucky, I seriously couldn't have picked someone better myself.
At first, cooking on my own was a challenge (and its still not easy). Sure I can make eggs and oatmeal and the occasional frozen pizza but that's about it. Fortunately I brought a few jars of trader joes peanut butter (of course) but not enough to maintain this 1 jar a week lifestyle. The first actual dinner meal I made was chicken, something my dad said was hard to get wrong. So, I bought a whole chicken and put it in a pan. Trying to "dress" this chicken was a joke (do you "dress" a chicken or just turkey??). Anyways, if only i had pictures of this.. I had to wash it and then stuff it.. It was comical watching me try and cook. anyways when it came time to put it in the oven, i realized the temperature was in celsius, so I just guessed and cooked it for an hour or so. When I took it out of the oven, it was definitelyy done. I don't want to say it was the worst thing I ever had.. but nothing I would ever be excited to eat. Haha but I get credit for trying right?
